JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: F-103 - Locksmith/Glazier

Experience -
• Knowledge of various types of keying systems available and their proper use.
• Knowledge of carpentry methods related to installation and maintenance of doors and door jambs.

Physical Requirements -
Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, power tools, computers, and/or controls.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
2. Five years of experience as a locksmith/glazier or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient
to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
3. Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
4. Required criminal background check.
5. Boiler license required within one year of employment
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor, Director of Facilities Management or designee.
JOB GOAL: Under limited supervision, performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of new and
existing lock systems and glass and glass related products district wide. Maintains buildings, structures, fixtures and
furniture in a safe and operable condition.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, schedules, coordinates and completes locksmith work orders, projects and assignments to include
preventative maintenance, repairs and installations throughout the district, using oral instructions, plans,
specifications, blue prints and work orders.
2. Selects appropriate material and hardware and makes time and material estimates.
3. Performs locksmith work to include routine and emergency repair and replacement of mechanical and electronic
lock systems; complies and updates a confidential log of system codes; manually operates a key coding machine;
repairs, services, and adjusts all types of doors, door closures, exit devices, panic bars, panic hardware,
coordinators, and other door related hardware including locks, handles, kick plates, weather stripping, door
framing.
4. Performs glazier work to include routine and emergency repair and replacement of glass and glass related
products; installs and replaces glass windows, doors, skylights, display cases and other fixtures; installs and
replaces window screens and screen frames; glazes windows, doors, cases, including caulking, weather proofing;
maintains tools and glazing equipment.
5. Reads blueprints, sketches or building plans; selects and orders types of materials; prepares layouts; marks cutting
and assembly lines on materials; shapes materials to prescribed measurements or dimensions; assembles cut and
materials and fastens them together; verifies trueness with standard tools and instruments.
6. Communicates and coordinates with supervisors, administrators, staff and other maintenance employees to
schedule and accomplish routine, emergency, and priority requests for locksmith and glazier support or services.

supervisors or administrators.
9. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure all work areas are clean; remove all scraps, materials, and debris as
needed.

Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Director of Facilities,
or designee, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education. This position is part of the Wayne
Custodial-Maintenance Association.
ANNUAL EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on the evaluation of
non-certificated staff.
