Job Summary:
The Sports Medicine Specialist will provide athletic trainer services and perform administrative tasks for individuals and organizations under JAG PT outreach athletic training contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the contracted organization.
Provide athletic trainer services for athletic events and competitions.
Offer first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for contracted organization's athletes.
Document injuries, illnesses, treatments, and rehabilitation following professional practice standards.
Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
Deliver in-services and educational programs on health and fitness topics to schools, coaches, athletes, and communities.
Act as the workers compensation case manager for contracted teams, including submitting insurance information and tracking compensation claims within guidelines.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and assist with departmental administrative duties and day-to-day operations.
Contribute to marketing initiatives, departmental improvement, and growth projects.
Oversee the ordering of athletic trainer supplies and equipment and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training (CAATE Approved program) and completion of the BOC certification.
Licensed in the state of practice as an Athletic Trainer.
Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
Flexibility and adaptability necessary to adjust to fluid situations.
