Job Title: Chief Engineer
Location: Philadelphia
Reports To: General Manager
Job Overview:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations by Philadelphia Airport, a hotel with 200+ guest rooms. This position requires a hands-on approach and includes supervising a team of maintenance staff, managing the budget, and ensuring all equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
Develop, implement, and oversee preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Oversee the repair and upkeep of the hotel's physical plant, including building systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Manage the maintenance budget, ensure expenses are controlled, and funds are allocated appropriately.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory levels.
Coordinate with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to ensure maintenance work does not disrupt guest experience.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards and work to minimize risks to staff and guests.
Hire, train, and supervise a team of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Conduct regular inspections of the hotel's facilities and equipment to identify potential maintenance issues and address them proactively.
Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors to secure bids and oversee the execution of outsourced work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Availability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
