Description

The Maintenance/Fireman performs various tasks involved in the operation and maintenance of boiler room heating and air conditioning equipment; routine maintenance of plant facilities and related assignments. This is a full-time position, typically working the evening shift from 2pm to 10pm.

If the successful applicant does not possess a Black Seal license prior to employment, the applicant will work day shift until the Black Seal license is obtained. Examples of Duties

Operates and maintains boiler room logs and equipment for maximum efficiency.
Operates air conditioning equipment effectively at established levels.
Maintains Heating and Cooling Systems at required levels in all College buildings.
Performs minor carpentry work and/or repairs to include, but not limited to doors, shelving, partitions, and cabinetry.
Maintains plumbing systems in good repair such as flush valves, faucet washers, performs minor electrical work and/or repairs to include receptacles, plugs, switches, and lighting fixtures on 110/220 volt circuits. Work on voltage above this only done when knowledge and experience allows.
Maintains equipment, gauges, dials at maximum performance levels and reports any irregularities to superior (s).
Performs minor repairs throughout campus on equipment and assets as needed and maintains appropriate work records.
Opens/Closes all College buildings in accordance with school schedule.
Performs a variety of general tasks to include hanging pictures, bulletin boards, status boards, securing office equipment and moving furniture.
Assists in supplementing basic custodial and groundkeeper tasks as required and approved by the direct supervisor, including snow removal during inclement weather.
Performs minor repairs and/or small alteration jobs to maintain buildings and plant facilities in top condition.
During construction projects staff will assist and be involved in these projects.
Ability to diagnose electrical issues with an electrical meter and equipment.
Knowledge of pumps to include centrifugal hot water system pumps and motors.
Proficiency in computer software programs i. e. , Microsoft Word and Excel Outlook.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED plus trades school experience.
Three (3) years directly applicable work experience.
Possession and maintenance of New Jersey Black Seal (low pressure boiler) license required or must obtain a license within six (6) months of date of hire.
Previous professional electrical experience preferred.
Possession and maintenance of valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Must be able to work Monday through Friday, evening shift 4pm to 12am. Staffing of a shift other than Monday through Friday may be required.

Flexible Spending Accounts:

The flexible spending program allows you to deduct pre-tax dollars which can be used for co-pays, deductibles, dental, vision, and dependent day care. The medical limit is $2,650 per year, and the dependent care limit is $5,000 per year.

Tuition Reimbursement/Waiver- RCSJ offers tuition reimbursement for up to 12 credits per fiscal year. The College also offer a tuition waiver for RCSJ courses for employees and eligible dependents.
