Training and Educational Assistance Programs

Primary Function:
Responds to user queries and resolves hardware and software problems in a multiple platform environment. Utilizes diagnostic software packages to diagnose, identify and resolve hardware and software problems. Refers complex hardware and software problems to higher level staff personnel for resolution.
Tools and Equipment:
Personal Computer, Network Cable Testers, Software, Hand Tools
Materials:
Various office materials and equipment, Personal Computer etc.

Working Procedure:
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:
• Configure, troubleshoot, and install personal computers within guidelines and standards set forth by the Supervisor, Information Services.
• Respond to help desk related trouble calls and provide friendly, responsive feedback and/or resolution for the caller's problem.
• Complete work order requests and provide viable information on solutions within applicable Service Level Agreement timeframe.
• Update and research the department's knowledge base.
• Accurately log all Help Desk related calls into tracking software.
• Learn fundamental operations of company specific software and hardware.
• Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in accordance with the Hitchiner Code of Conduct.
• Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets
• Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
• Inform your supervisor about problems that occur.
• May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.
Special Skills and/or Experience:
• At least 1-3 years' experience working with Microsoft operating systems.
• At least 1-3 years' experience installing and supporting MS Windows based applications in a business environment.
• Experience maintaining Active Directory accounts and Group memberships.
• Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Self-starting and organized.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift to 50 lbs.
• A working knowledge of networking protocols is required.
• Must be capable of obtaining certifications in computer hardware support and/or Microsoft Office applications support, ITIL Foundation certification
Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Work Environment:
Exposure to dirt dust, odors, and noise within acceptable limits with the use of protective equipment.
