Our highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeons, physician assistants, perfusionists, nurses and technologists provide advanced surgical treatments for conditions affecting the heart, lungs, and chest cavity.

About the Job:

The Perfusionist is a key member of the cardiovascular surgery team, responsible for operating the heart-lung machine and other advanced equipment during medical procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. The primary duty is to ensure the patient's circulatory and respiratory functions are maintained while the heart is stopped during surgery. Perfusionists play a critical role in maintaining hemodynamic and blood gas levels, ensuring patient safety during complex cardiovascular procedures.

What You'll Do:

Manage the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgeries to support or replace the patient's heart and lung functions by operating the Cardiopulmonary Bypass machine.
Monitor Vital Parameters continuously observing and adjusting parameters such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, and blood flow rates during surgery.
Prepare and maintain equipment by assembling, calibrating, and testing perfusion-related equipment before surgery to ensure it functions properly.
Provide circulatory and respiratory support; administer blood products, medications, and other fluids as necessary to maintain homeostasis during surgery.
Ability to set up and maintain cell saver equipment.
Ability to perform point of care testing.
Respond to emergency situations by quickly adjusting perfusion parameters and equipment to stabilize the patient.
Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the operating room team to ensure seamless communication and patient care during surgery.
Maintain detailed records of the perfusion process, including equipment settings and registry data related to perfusion.

Who You Are:

Bachelor's degree in a health-related field required.
Completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program required.
Certification by the ABCP (or national equivalent) required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a cardiac surgery program required.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a cardiac surgery program preferred.
