Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy outpatient team (Lymphoma). The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Job Duties & Responsibilities

Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations.
Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications.
Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
Participate in the education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
Perform procedures including:
- Bone Marrow Biopsies
- Lumbar Puncture with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
- Ommaya Access with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
- Punch skin biopsy with simple suture.
Attend program required meetings.
Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.

Job Eligibility RequirementsEducation

Nurse Practitioners:Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
Physician Assistants:Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

Certification

Physician Assistant Certification
Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification
Licensed in the State of North Carolina
ACLS preferred

BLS required.

License

Nurse Practitioners:Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
Physician Assistants:Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Experience

1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.

Job Hours

Monday-Friday, day shift 8am-5pm, with flexibility to meet clinic needs
