Summary
The AE Team Lead, Lathes at Okuma America Corporation is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to the team of lathe Application Engineers in support of Okuma's Mission, Vision, and Values. This role will be responsible for lathe related technical support for Sales and Distribution as well as various aspects of customer training.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Provide leadership to lathe Application's Engineering group
Schedule task/assignments, and provide technical support for the Lathe AE team
Provide personal development to elevate the skills of the lathe team
Develop and implement strategies to provide the ultimate customer experience
Develops and enhances personal relationships within Okuma, our Distributor Network, and end users
Train customers and distributors on high tech products, automation, gantries, and multi-function lathes
Implement strategies to creatively provide continuous training for Okuma, distributors and end users via video content and other media sources
Ensure speedy and effective responses to Distributors and end users on lathe issues/problems
Support CRM, Answerman, and requests from Distributors
Test and evaluate new Okuma products, enhancements, and partner products
Visit distributors and customers related to key projects as necessary
Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices
Performs other duties as assigned and explores opportunities to add value

Qualifications

Experience/Training/Education
Associate's Degree in Manufacturing/ Machining preferred
Working knowledge and prior experience with the product and potential configurations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
General:

Programming parts via CAD/CAM
Customer focused; proactively finds ways to exceed customer needs
Must effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
This individual must be able to work independently and take ownership of their work product

Technical:
Working knowledge and experience with modern CNC machines and controls (preferably Okuma)
Working knowledge and experience with modern cutting tools
Working knowledge and experience with a wide range of manual and hydraulic work holding
Working knowledge and experience with robotic systems
Working knowledge and experience with SPC
Working knowledge and experience with PC applications
Ability to write documents and report
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and PC skills

Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional listening skills
Exceptional ability to speak and write effectively in a business environment
Exceptional ability to ask necessary questions

Math & Reasoning:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and willingness to adapt to change and take initiative
Physical and Environmental Elements
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit continuously for over 3/4 of normal work shift, and stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 1/4 of the normal work shift
Ability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to stoop, crouch and reach
Ability to talk or hear continuously
Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less)
Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 3/4 of the normal work shift including operating a phone, computer/ electronic equipment

Work Environment:
Position is typically performed in the office environment with standard equipment and moderate noise levels (examples: computers, printers, fax, copiers, light traffic, and phone)
Position will occasionally interact with the production/warehouse environment. Thus, the employee may be exposed to an open warehouse area where temperatures may be subject to outdoor conditions in terms of cold and heat. There is exposure to various tools and equipment as well as forklift operations and corresponding noise levels

Special Requirements
Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties
Travel to customer sites as needed
