Product Application Engineer, Power Transmission Rubber

Summary

The Product Application Engineer supports technical aspects of Power Transmission Rubber belts within the Megadyne product line.
Supports sales by validating requests for products, and reviews customer specifications/requirements by providing technical drawings, and specifications.
The supports Customer Service with product suitability decisions/interchanges with competitor products.
Helps develop internal technical literature and internal and external training materials.
The Product Application Engineer reports to the Product Line Manager.

Accountabilities

Individual accountabilities:

Provides application engineering support (selection, product compatibility, problem resolution, and related duties) for Megadyne PT products
Supports sales and customer service team regarding technical customer requirements and questions to result in increased revenue
Interprets drawings, review and approve supplier PPAP's, approves dimensions and branding changes needed to meet Company requirements
Utilize and compare engineering software and tools to simulate and analyze belt drive performance under various operating conditions to satisfy customer needs.

Shared accountabilities

Participates in product management team activities, advising Product Management regarding technical aspects and assisting in the planning of new products and management of existing products to grow Vitality Index
Develop technical documentation and training materials in conjunction with Product Management and Marketing

Key linkages & interfaces / most important stakeholders

Work with customers to understand their technical requirements and specifications to grow the Megadyne brand
Proactively create and deliver technical training for internal and external customers
Active support and participation representing Megadyne in industry standard organizations and conventions

Requirements of the job

B.S.
Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
Minimum 5 years' experience in application engineering for power transmission products/rubber belting
Excellent communication skills; strong attention to detail
Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CAD engineering software
Occasional travel required

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, such as office supplies from storage and moving supplies in and out of work area.
