This is a full time (0.8 - 1.0 Status), night shift Innovative Call Surgical Technologist position in the Surgery Department.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Innovative Call CST will be scheduled five (5) twelve (12) hour call shifts, Sunday through Friday 1900-0700.
This position will serve as the first call for surgical services relief after hours.
Additionally, the CST holding this bid is exempt from the weekly call rotation but will rotate through the holiday call rotation.
Actual hours worked on a holiday will be paid at time and one-half (1 1/2).
CSTs in this position will be paid a minimum of forty (40) hours per week at their base rate of pay.
Overtime will be paid on any actual hours worked above forty (40) hours in a week.

PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES

Main Responsibilities:

The Surgical Technologist prepares the sterile field as well as all instrumentation and equipment intended to be used on the sterile field.
During surgery, the Surgical Technologist provides appropriate instrumentation through a combination of knowledge of the intended surgery, individual surgeon preference, and anticipation of the surgeon's needs as the procedure progresses.
Non-clinical support includes cleaning and sterilization of instruments, cleaning and proper care of equipment and operating rooms, provision of a surgical environment which is safe and clean, surgeon preference card maintenance, and supply outdates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist program

Preferred Certification(s):

• Surgical Technologist Certification within six (6) months of hire

• BLS upon hire and Healthcare BLS within three (3) months of hire

Minimum Work Experience:

• Previous experience preferred.

On Call / Weekend:
Weekday and weekend call.
