Location

This position is remote/hybrid. Intern will be required to go to Denver, CO office 1-2 times per month

The Main Responsibilities

Lumen's Finance organization is looking for a Data Scientist on our Margin Management team. The intern will be tasked with building out a model to track historical trends of General Ledger mapping on our cost system and create insights and predictions for future accounting periods for new entries into the system to reduce manual review.

In addition, they will be responsible for building an association model for Lumen's Dark Fiber contract to actual routes and circuits inventoried and billing on business systems to be used to ensure Lumen is in compliance with contractual arrangements.

Other responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex business problems, build statistical models, and create predictive tools

• Work effectively on a team as well as a self-driven individual to do research and develop cutting edge and effective solutions for the business

• Create new insights that will drive business growth and profitability in the short and long term

• Assist with building out machine learning models to optimize Re-rate program

What We Look For in a Candidate

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate's commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

• Required qualifications

• Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship

• Graduating August 2025 - May 2026

• Preferred fields include but not limited to: Data Science / Data analytics (computer Science/Mathematics with Emphasis on Data Science)

• Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 - August 8, 2025)

• Proficiency and understanding of:

• MS Office Suite

• General knowledge of statistical models

• Preferred qualifications

• Working Knowledge of Python/ SQL

• Enjoys collaboration and works well in team environment

• Comfortability interacting with different levels of leadership and presenting solutions

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

Hourly Based Pay Range:

Min: $26. 00/hour

Max: $43. 00/hour

What to Expect Next
