Position Summary:
Respiratory therapists assist patients who have breathing difficulties. These include chronic respiratory diseases, such as emphysema and asthma.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regimes prescribed by physicians.
Responsible for the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of Respiratory Care, proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to Respiratory Care treatments and diagnostic testing.
Recommend and initiate appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities, implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician.
Must have the ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures.
Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care is delivered to achieve desired outcomes.
Responsible for all general respiratory care duties including but not limited to administration of aerosol therapy, arterial blood draws and analysis, ECG's, pulmonary function screening, oxygen administration, and incentive spirometry.
Intensive care experience must include arterial line management, ventilator maintenance and troubleshooting, intubation and extubating of patient
Subject to irregular hours.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.
Follow infection control and isolations guidelines.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
The Respiratory Therapist must have the ability to move around freely, walk and sit for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
