As a Buyer at Seemann Composites, you will manage procurement activities and support contract quoting to ensure competitive, compliant, and cost-effective sourcing. You will work closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to acquire materials and services necessary for production while aligning with federal contracting requirements. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and an understanding of government contract regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management

Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, supplies, and services to meet production and operational requirements.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing schedules to prevent delays in production.

Quoting and Bidding Support for Federal Contracts

Prepare and manage competitive quotes for contracts, collaborating with internal departments to ensure all requirements are met.
Analyze and calculate costs, lead times, and supplier capabilities to contribute to accurate and competitive bids.
Ensure compliance with regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), when preparing bids and sourcing materials.

Vendor Management and Compliance

Assess vendor performance through KPIs, including quality, delivery timelines, and cost efficiency.
Conduct regular audits to confirm vendor compliance with contract terms, company standards, and federal requirements.
Address any issues with vendors promptly to maintain production timelines and quality standards.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, quotes, and contract documentation for auditing and regulatory compliance.
Prepare reports on procurement activities, savings, and supplier performance for management review.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with finance, production, and engineering teams to ensure timely and cost-effective material sourcing.
Provide insights and data on purchasing trends and market conditions to aid in strategic decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in procurement, preferably within a federal contracting environment.
Skills:
Strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of federal contracting regulations (FAR).
Technical:
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of federal procurement processes and compliance standards.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and adjust to changing project needs.

Essential Physical Requirement:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighting up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.
