About the Opportunity
Perform various driving, operating, material handling and related duties under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation & Fleet Services to assist in the movement and delivery of materials, supplies equipment and passengers and in the removal of snow. As assigned and in all weather conditions, operate university equipment and vehicles, which require a Commercial Driver's License, assemble, load and unload cargo received and delivered, obtain authorized signature of deliveries. Maintain necessary records. Ensure the security and safe transport and handling of cargo and/of passengers in transit and while loading and unloading. Maintain university vehicles interior/exteriors in a clean, orderly condition. Detect and report mechanical maintenance requirements for assigned vehicles to the Director of Transportation. Assist in unloading of vendor's vehicles, check quantities received, obtain appropriate signatures, and distribute to assigned storage area within the warehouse facility. Assist in maintaining vehicles, equipment, and warehouse facility in a clean and safe condition. As required or directed work overtime during peak periods, including being a permanent member of the snow team. Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations. May direct work for part time student transportation workers. Perform other related duties as required or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: H.S diploma required
Minimum 5 years of work experience within the transportation industry.
Must be able to lift and move heavy loads.
Must process a working knowledge of office and lab relocations and logistics.
Must have knowledge of local motor vehicle laws, OSHA and DOT regulations.
Must be able to work overtime during the week and weekends when required.
Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License and a valid DOT certificate.
Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs, but frequently lift and move more than 100 lbs.
Permanent member of the Snow Team, duties include being on call on a 24-hour basis during the winter months, shoveling snow and applying deicer, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ninety days after employment employees are required to become a member of Union Local 32BJ, District 615.
This position requires a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Mover/Truck/Driver is considered Essential Personnel. This is a condition of employment.
• 40-hour work - Hours: Monday through Friday, 7AM - 3:30PM
• Permanent membership on the Snow Team is a requirement of this position. Job description subject to change based upon the University needs and demands.
