Position Compensation Range:

$95,000.00 - $161,000.00

• Primary Accountabilities
•

+ Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

+ Handle files and issues of a more complex nature with higher levels of dollar exposure and requiring less oversight. Communicate with client regarding file status and progress.

+ Analyze file as litigation progresses as well as risk to the company. Evaluate cases and seeks settlement as necessary.

+ Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation activities at the trial or appellate level. Conduct necessary research in support of drafting activities.

+ Advocate client position in all forums (state and federal court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals and regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and informal.

+ Negotiate effectively in the resolution all issues.

+ Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions.

+ May develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property, workers` compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage).

• Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
•

+ Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service

+ Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.

+ Demonstrated litigation experience.

+ Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.

+ Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

• Preferred Knowledge & Skills
•

Demonstrated Trial Experience strongly preferred.

• Licenses
•

+ Admission to the Missouri State Bar required. Additional admission to Illinois Bar preferred.

+ Juris Doctor.

• Travel Requirements
•

+ Up to 50%.

•

+ Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
