DIRECTION OF OTHERS: Guest Services

NATURE OF WORK: Ensure day to day operations are carried out at River Springs Water Park, West Hills Tennis & Fitness Center, Brooktree Clubhouse, Social Commons, Lake Kohlmier Beachhouse, the Parks and Recreation Office, or other city facilities. Responsible for monitoring activity at the facility for overall customer service quality, safety, setup and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and amenities.

2025 SEASONAL / TEMPORARY POSITIONDuties / Responsibilities

Supervise daily operation of seasonal/temporary staff according to established policies and guidelines.
Monitor seasonal/temporary staff schedules and adjust as necessary.
Assign seasonal/temporary staff tasks.
Ensure all staff rules, regulations, and safety practices are properly enforced.
Ensure admissions and concessions policies are completed to the standard outlined in the City of Owatonna's Cash Handling Policy and procedures established by the Parks Recreation Department.
Ensure employees are following proper sanitation and food safety guidelines.
Manage inventory of concessions products and supplies; order and stock
Ensure a healthy and sanitary facility for employees and guests.
Provide quality customer service.
1. Serve and assist customers in an effective, efficient and professional manner.
2. Understand facility rates, programs, and hours of operation.
3. Answer phone calls in a timely and courteous manner.
4. Use clear, positive communication with customers, vendors and staff members.
Prepare and sell concession products, facility admissions, memberships and general merchandise.
Complete required records and reports.
Inspect facility and equipment on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Monitor facility use including customer supervision, safety checks, and enforcement of the City of Owatonna, Parks and Recreation Department and facility policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean facility.
Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Perform opening and closing duties of facility.
Be an effective team member by exhibiting self-motivation, supporting other employees in handling tasks, interacting effectively and respectfully with others, showing a desire to contribute to the team effort, accepting assignments willingly, and completing tasks within agreed upon timelines
Ensure guests receive appropriate first aid and proper documentation is completed and reported.
Understand and implement procedures for weather, medical, environmental, and other emergencies. Give direction in emergency situations.
Promote Owatonna Parks and Recreation programs and facilities.
All other duties that apply.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver's license; ability to work with public; knowledge of computer operations; ability to work independently; must be at least 18 years of age by February 14, 2025. Employee must be capable of operating miscellaneous office, safety, janitorial and other equipment relative to this position which shall include but may not be limited to: personal computer, copier, fax machine, communication equipment, Point of Sale equipment and related items; concessions equipment, and other program specific items.

Hours of Work/Physical and Mental DemandsHours of Work: This is a position with scheduled shifts including mornings, days, evening, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled hours may range from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Physical and Mental Demands: This position works at various facilities and locations including indoor and outdoor, with all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
