Experience: 1 year preferred; new graduates considered
License: Graduate from an accredited Associate degree surgical technologist program
Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through governing body, obtained within 12 months of hire; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Must-Have: Solid PC skills including MS applications, Internet
• Assists the surgeon during operative procedures with duties such as holding retractors, cutting suture material, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressing.
• Creates a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile techniques, surgical conscience, universal precautions, and safety procedures.
• Cares for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning for future use.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical services.
• Recognizes emergency situations and responds promptly and effectively.
• Collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Evaluates own practice in relation to professional standards and relevant regulations.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements.
• Follows principles and standards as outlined in the organization's Code of Conduct.
• Protects privacy and accesses information as needed for job duties.
• Reports violations or concerns to leadership or compliance officers.
