• Job Summary
•

Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has opportunities for you to join our team as a State of Minnesota employee. We seek applicants with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, who are ready to share our dedication to the people we serve.

AMRTC is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

As a Locksmith, you will perform skilled maintenance lead work in the installing and repairing of all locks, doors, frames and associated hardware throughout the facility. Provide lead work direction to other skilled craftsman and workers in the general maintenance and repairs of all buildings. Provide key control for the entire AMRTC campus and assist the Physical Plant Supervisor with all on-going maintenance projects. Building Maintenance Lead Worker must be flexible to work before and after scheduled shift and must be available to be called in during emergencies.

Job duties include:

+ Perform locksmith duties and provide lead work direction and training in the repair of existing locks, cores, and key control to maintain facility security needs.

+ Provide lead work direction and training to repair and install door frames, doors, gates, locks, and all associated hardware including door closers, position switches, keeper switches, frame and door preparations.

+ Provide lead work direction to other skilled craftsmen and workers in the general maintenance and repairs of all buildings.

• Minimum Qualifications
•

+ Experience working as locksmith, carpenter foreman, or carpenter preforming skilled work and service on security lock systems

+ Knowledge of the principles of lead work sufficient to plan, direct, monitor and review the work of groups of craftsmen, helpers, laborers and other maintenance personnel

+ Knowledge of the methods, practices, equipment and materials used in minor new construction, maintenance, repair or renovation of various types of state buildings and other structures sufficient to complete assignments in a safe, efficient and timely manner

+ Ability to make simple sketches and computations sufficient to estimate and requisition materials for projects

+ Ability to maintain work records and to make reports sufficient to report subordinates hours and to assist in computing maintenance costs

• Preferred Qualifications
•

+ Certificate or degree in carpentry, locksmith, or related field

+ Experience leading carpenters or other building maintenance workers in repair and maintenance of secure buildings

+ Familiarity reading blueprints and managing construction projects

+ Knowledge of medium duty construction equipment such as skid loaders, tractors, backhoes, and snowplows
