Key Responsibilities:

Installation of Machinery :
Set up and install machinery and equipment according to blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Maintenance and Repair :
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery and mechanical systems to ensure they are running efficiently. This includes replacing worn-out parts, lubricating machinery, and making necessary adjustments.
Alignment and Calibration :
Use precision measuring instruments to align machines and equipment, ensuring that they are working at peak performance.
Fabrication :
Fabricate and assemble components, often using welding, cutting, and other methods to repair or build custom parts.
Troubleshooting :
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with equipment and find solutions to resolve malfunctions.
Safety Compliance :
Follow safety protocols and ensure that all work meets health and safety regulations.
Blueprint Interpretation :
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to understand machinery specifications and system requirements.
Collaboration :
Work closely with engineers, electricians, and other maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations.
Upgrades and Modifications :
Recommend and install system upgrades, new components, or modifications to improve machine performance.
Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise :
Proficient in operating mechanical tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
Blueprint and Diagram Interpretation :
Ability to read and understand technical documentation.
Problem-Solving :
Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
Physical Stamina :
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, often requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Safety Awareness :
Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and machinery safety standards.
Communication Skills :
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members.
Education and Training:

Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an apprenticeship program or formal training in millwrighting or a related field.
Certification (e.g., Journeyman Millwright) may be required or preferred in some regions.
Work Environment:

Millwrights generally work in industrial environments such as manufacturing plants, power stations, construction sites, and shipyards.
The work can be physically demanding, requiring lifting heavy machinery or parts and working in confined spaces.
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
