Position: Purchasing Buyer- Production Materials- ENTRY Level

Department: Materials

Reports To: General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Description:

The successful Purchasing Buyer-Production Materials candidate will establish and lead the Production Materials function, oversee strategic sourcing execution, contracting and value. In addition, the position will have responsibility to deliver value across the Production Materials category as it relates to contracts with suppliers for all production related raw material, purchased component and outside processing suppliers.

This position is entry level and will be training to learn the requirements, duties, and skills to be successful in future roles.

* Leads development of overall production procurement strategies and translate the strategies into concrete action plans.

* Supports budgetary goals and objectives of Globe Tech, working closely with plant personnel on purchasing concerns.

* Develops strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

* Utilizes competitive bidding techniques to provide best-value sourcing of production materials. Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.

* Works within individual program budgets to ensure material is procured to support operational profitability.

* Utilizes problem solving techniques to improve efficiency of production support functions.

* Lead concurrent projects across multiple departments and obtain buy in and collaboration from functional leaders in pursuit of cost saving initiatives.

* Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.

* Monitor raw material market conditions to extract savings from suppliers. Utilize market metrices to support adjustable blanket contracts (eg. CRU, AMM).

* Utilize PLEX MRP system to monitor demand fluctuations to support minimum inventory levels on all production materials.

* Manages Plex inventory functionality as it relates to all production purchasing activities.

* Experience with purchasing raw materials (steel, SS, aluminum, brass, copper and plastics), fasteners, hydraulics, electronics, and all necessary production components.

* Support program launch activities which may entail courting and assessing new suppliers (including travel if required), supporting quotation functions and material engineering assistance.

* Maintain delivery portion of the monthly supplier scorecard for all active production material suppliers. Address supply chain deficiencies with supply base.

* Right-sizing raw material purchases to meet efficient processing at the equipment site.

* Assist in inventory problem resolution.

* Experience with commercial vehicle and military procurement practices (eg. IATF, FAR & DFAR regulations).

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree (B. A. ) in Supply Chain from four year College or University preferred or related experience.

* Previous experience can be used in lieu of degree.

Experience:

* 0-3 years related experience and/or training.

* Automotive and Military purchasing experience. (preferred)

* Manufacturing support experience. (preferred)

Certifications:

* American Production and Inventory Control Society (preferred but not required).

* Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
