Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Supportive Housing Coordinator, provide culturally sensitive residential support 24/7. Front Desk staff will provide general assistance and support to Tenants during non-business hours when main staff are not on site. Front Desk Staff will monitor tenants and their guest(s) to make sure all policies are being followed. This program operates using both Housing First philosophy and Harm Reduction approaches. Tenants of supportive housing are living with substance use disorders, mental illness or psychological disability. Employees must be guided by the principles of trauma informed care: physical and emotional safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowerment. All staff will work together to ensure the building is a safe, and comfortable environment promoting a sense of stability and security for the tenants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the security of building by monitoring for unsafe conditions or activities.
  • Must adhere to mandated reporting laws.
  • Willing to be the sole night shift personnel in the building.
  • The Supportive Housing Program is a designated 24/7 operation. Staff must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed (holidays on a rotating basis).
  • Provide guidance and direction to tenants and guests in the building providing escort when needed.
  • Ensure all entering the building sign-in and sign-out at the front desk.
  • Be aware of the established schedules and routines for the building.
  • Be aware of the environment and inform Supervisor of anything out of the norm.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, must observe, listen, and record the details of the shift, complete Incident Reports when necessary, and inform the next shift. Attention to details is important.
  • Ability to recognize changes in tenant mood, behaviors, and symptoms and report to Case Manager.
  • Respectfully respond to tenant needs and problems, initiate and maintain positive interactions with Tenant(s) and their families or guests.
  • Work directly with tribal members, community members, and community agencies.
  • Exhibit an understanding of Tenant rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide corrective interactions around enforcement of house rules, policies and procedures.
  • Be a positive role model for Tenants presenting a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.
  • Use language and behavior to promote dignity and respect between co-workers, tenants and the general public.
  • Respond to tenant needs such as lock out services to let Tenants into their units, assist them with clerical tasks, such as making copies.
  • Direct tenants to safety during building emergencies and dangerous weather events.
  • Must adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of and set up for building activities and special events.
  • Provide support for Tenants to participate in community activities, and social interactions within the building and the community.
  • Facilitate resident safety through check-ins and engagement, monitoring camera footage for security and safety concerns inside and outside the building.
  • Identify emergency signals and situations and react appropriately.
  • Must have the ability to be persuasive and tactful in challenging situations.
  • Intervene when tenants become agitated, disruptive, or dangerous to themselves or others.
  • Effectively employ de-escalation techniques and follow-up.
  • Interacts with tenants that may be actively inebriated.
  • Exercise sound judgement and call internal crisis intervention or Tribal Police when needed.
  • Administer either nasal or injectable Narcan in an emergency.
  • Administer AED in an emergency.
  • Administer CPR in an emergency.
  • Answer and route telephone calls and respond to emails in a timely manner and perform related administrative duties.
  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Practices OSHA safety standards and dispose of biohazard waste correctly.
  • Practices safety standards, and infection control procedures.
  • Perform light housekeeping of common areas and public/staff restrooms when needed.
  • Assist the other team members in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year customer service or human services field experience.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills in record keeping.
  • Must possess skill in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Must possess skill with computers and office equipment.
  • Must be able to pass DHS background check to meet and maintain the employment eligibility requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree preferred.
