We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Sales Tax Accountant with 2+ years of experience to join our team. The Sales Tax Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and local sales tax regulations, preparing and filing sales tax returns, and supporting the business with tax-related inquiries. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in tax software, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This is a full-time in office position and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns accurately and on time, managing compliance for 30 properties across multiple states.
Monitor and ensure adherence to complex state, local, and federal sales tax regulations, with a strong focus on multi-state compliance.
Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Stay updated on changes to sales tax laws and regulations.
Conduct research on sales tax issues and provide recommendations to management.
Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies.
Support external and internal audits related to sales and occupancy tax.
Compile documentation and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities.
Ensure proper recordkeeping for all tax-related documents.
Participate in other projects and activities as assigned

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

2+ year of experience or industry-specific education required
Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, and NetSuite)
Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel

Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets for reporting

Must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment
Follows through on projects to successful completion, meeting deadlines
Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management

Pay Range:
$55,000 - $60,000 per year
