The Personal Lines Manager will oversee and service a book of personal lines business while also seeking opportunities to write new business. This role involves managing the Personal Lines staff across multiple locations in Kingsley, Grand Rapids, Harbor Springs, and Indian River, MI. The manager will plan, direct, and monitor team activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of goals and projects. The role also includes implementing necessary department procedures to enhance efficiency in sales and service processes, as well as focusing on training and staff development.

Job Responsibilities

Serve as a coach and mentor for Personal Lines employees within the organization.
Provide and oversee training for employees in the department.
Conduct annual reviews of the Personal Lines team, offering feedback on performance, and setting individual goals.
Perform all job functions of supervised employees, managing a book of business.
Oversee the development and implementation of new or improved department procedures.
Maintain positive relationships with company representatives through carrier contacts and effective communication. Attending carrier events and meetings as an agency representative.
Participate in staff interviews to ensure a high level of professionalism and technical and personal skills.
Promote open communication, transparency, and team morale.
Ensure high levels of customer service by enhancing differentiation and value-added proactive service delivery to clients and improving ongoing service delivery methods.
Facilitate and oversee underwriting and agency standards within the department.
Stay informed about insurance technical knowledge, market trends, carrier information, and other operational techniques.
Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Seven years of experience in property and casualty insurance.
High level of technical insurance knowledge, excellent organization, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Current CISR designation from the National Alliance, with ongoing pursuit of CISR Elite (if not already obtained).
All licenses required by the State Department of Insurance to discuss and/or sell insurance in states where the agency operates.
Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, agency automation system, and various software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Notes:

The location of the role will be in person in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office
Hours for the role is as follows:
8:
00am to 5:
00pm Monday Thursday, 8:
00am 4:
30pm Friday (Memorial Day through Labor Day we close at 4:
00pm on Friday)
