- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) will be obtained during orientation Must-Have:
- De-escalation experience - Experience with physical restraints - Willingness to run groups - Medication administration proficiency - Documentation skills
- Provide care in a 94-bed facility with 50 pediatric beds offering private rooms.
• Manage patients ages 5-18 receiving inpatient mental health services, transferred from emergency departments after medical clearance.
• Common diagnoses include Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Gender Dysphoria.
• Utilize both traditional medical and psychiatric care, including specialized therapies like pet therapy, group sessions, recreation therapy (rock wall), and community gardens.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:
5-6 during the day, and 1:
13 at night with resource support.
• Collaborate with on-site Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, and Nursing support.
• Engage in orientation during the first week on the day shift, followed by practice on contracted shifts.
Support and Administrative Details:
- Nurses are supported by a Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Manager, House Administrator, Charge Nurse, and Psych Techs.
• Facilities include a Contracted Phlebotomist for lab draws, and on-call Psychiatrist during certain hours.
• Security is on-site, with staff from all units responding to escalations.
• Use of Cerner for charting and Pyxis for medication management.
• Floating across pediatric units as needed.
• Scheduling includes weekend rotations, and holidays are worked in rotation.
Approval for up to 7 days off is available, with possible contract extension if taking a full week.
