Job Details Critical Care Float Pool position at Eastern Maine Medical Center
26 week contract preferred but not required
Level II Trauma Center
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses include Stroke, ICP monitoring, EVD Drains, spinal precautions, DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, COVID, STEMI, NSTEMI, Heart failure
ICU Float Pool RNs may float to ER Hold/Obs and care for MedSurg level patients
Patient Ratios: 1:2, may get 3rd patient as one is being downgraded, ED Hold/Obs: 1:4-5, dependent on acuity
Job Requirements 2 years of experience required, no acceptance for travelers with only 1 year
Charge experience preferred
Neuro and Trauma experience is an absolute must
Ventilator management, critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, measuring cardiac strips, drains, chest tubes, hemodynamic lines: art lines/CVP, Stroke experience
Schedule Information Weekend rotation: Every other
Day shift: Sat/Sun
Night shift: Fri/Sat
On call: No
Holiday Expectations: manager approval
Approval of RTO: to go through manager
Shift times: see posting
Unit Specific Information This is a float pool position that floats between all levels of care
Orientation includes general hospital orientation followed by a tour by the education department to each floor
One shift of orientation followed by independent work
