Core Responsibilities:

As the Business Services Manager you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the overall administrative operations and business activities within the Maine DHHS Offices of Bangor, Ellsworth, Machias and Calais. The position will be based in Bangor, but it will require occasional travel to the other district offices.

Your duties will include:

• Planning, organizing and directing the work activities of subordinate staff;

• Reviewing and approving all requests for supplies, equipment and personnel to contain spending and maximize resources;

• Procuring goods and services (via approved procurement methods and procedures) for general operation and maintenance of the facilities under the position's purview;

• Leading and participating in various committees addressing safety, building issues and general policy development;

• Directing, coordinating, and supervising vendors and contractors who perform work within the facilities to ensure the work is performed properly and completed in a timely manner;

• Reviewing, analyzing and assessing management procedures in order to recommend changes to improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness;

• Reviewing and implementing policies and procedures to improve operations and to ensure the facility needs are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Business, Hospital, or Public Administration and two (2) years management and/or supervisory experience in business, hospital, or public administration is required. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preference will be given to those who meet the minimum qualifications and respond to the competencies listed below:

A proven ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with multiple, diverse divisional offices or entities.

Knowledge of state purchasing, budget preparation, personnel administration, and accounting procedures.

A proven ability to supervise subordinate personnel.

A proven ability to review, assess and analyze, policies and procedures of a large and/or moderate size agency in order to make recommendations for improvements for efficient and effective operations.
