Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Computer Operator I to support KITS and our government customer in Silver Spring, MD. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

Koniag IT Systems, a subsidiary of Koniag Management Solutions, is seeking an entry-level Computer Operator I (SCLS) to join our team. This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the efficient operation of computer systems, networks, and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate should possess a basic understanding of computer operations, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Computer Operator I will be responsible for:
Monitoring and controlling computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment, following established procedures and guidelines.
Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, system backups, and hardware checks, under the supervision of senior operators or system administrators.
Identifying and reporting operational issues, system errors, and hardware/software malfunctions to the appropriate technical support personnel.
Assisting in the implementation of solutions and troubleshooting activities, as directed by senior operators or technical support teams.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation of system operations, maintenance activities, and incidents.
Adhering to data security and integrity protocols, following established procedures for data backup, recovery, and access controls.
Providing basic technical support to end-users, addressing minor issues or escalating more complex problems to senior personnel.
Collaborating with IT professionals, system administrators, and other colleagues to learn and understand system operations and maintenance processes.
Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
Work under close personal supervision and respond to provide detailed written or oral guidance before and during assignments.
As instructed resolve common operating problems and may serve as an assistant operator working under close supervision or performing a portion of a more senior operator's work.
Familiarity with operating systems and office productivity software.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Basic knowledge of computer programming or scripting languages.
Familiarity with system monitoring tools and utilities.
Understanding of data backup and recovery procedures.
Experience in a government or military IT environment.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for secure system operations.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
