What will you be doing?

Provide direction:

Provide technical direction and problem-solving expertise to resolve material issues that arise. Communicate with material sourcing teams on an on-going basis to advise of material needs, new development and/or production issues. Ensure that testing is conducted, and standards are set.
Team collaboration:

Collaborate with assigned brands and VP to identify long and short-term material needs and interests for assigned brands. Create/maintain an active materials wishlist for new developments. Collaborate with PD teams to support their seasonal materials trends and material palette creation. Support material pre-buy activities as needed. Consultant for material specifications and approvals.
Contribute : Coordinate appropriate product data information/systems with material sourcing teams and PLM. Assure that accurate material spec information is provided to PD for seasonal development.
Drive brand results : Collaborate with the Sustainability related functions on common sustainable materials work. Monitor competitor products and maintain awareness of new footwear trends, details.
Manage:

Handle assigned materials development work for multiple brand's product lines and scope of the Materials Developer role. Regularly update brands on progress and/or issues that arise.

Qualifications that make you the perfect fit!

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a material development position; footwear is preferred.
Knowledge of footwear upper materials, component parts and terminology is required, along with awareness of manufacturing and testing.
Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator software capabilities.
Able to lift, carry and organize sample books, sample swatches and inspiration references.
Able to setup material swatches and presentations on the magnetic white board wall in product workrooms.
Travels occasionally to material shows in the USA and suppliers and source country offices in Asia.
