Summary:
Responsible for providing leadership, and direction for Health Information Management (HIM) operations.
The HIM Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department.
The HIM Manager serves as an integral resource and works collaboratively with leadership and the health care team.
As a key constituent of the revenue cycle, this position contributes to the organization's financial strength, compliance and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
Education:
Bachelors, or minimum of Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or other related field.
RHIT or RHIA preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years in the HIM field with demonstrated experience with increasing responsibility.
Two years of prior supervisory experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
The HIM Operations Manager must have strong management and project management experience; and must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to interpret and comply with applicable health care industry regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of HIM functions.
Proven capability to motivate, collaborate, effect change and promote teamwork.
Excellent project planning, management and prioritization abilities.
Ability to adapt to change and manage challenges.
Self-motivated with strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
