The Operations Analysis & Integration (OAI) team provides support to the wider System Operations & Market Administration (SOMA) department by performing analysis to aid in decision making, designing and developing efficient business tools to perform recurring processes consistently, and collaborates interdepartmentally on long-term corporate projects.
What will you be working on:
Review existing software and processes used by members of System Operations & Market Administration to identify areas for improvement.
Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain departmentally created software enhancements for the members of System Operations & Market Administration The interns will gain knowledge of how the ISO fits into the bigger picture within the electricity industry.
They will also apply their data analysis skills in multiple real-world scenarios from start to finish.
This will involve researching and documenting the existing processes, developing and executing a process for analyzing the data, reviewing the results and reporting areas for improvement; widely transferable skills.
How will you make an impact:
The interns will assist OAI full-time employees with the review of time-intensive processes performed in the production areas of System Operations and Market Administration and identify solutions that will allow those processes to be streamlined and performed more consistently.
This is work already taking place within the group but would benefit greatly from the extra resources and new perspectives on potential solutions.
What we look for in a candidate:
Required:
Strong organization and communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Experience with relational databases and application development.
Highly Preferred:
Experience with multiple programming languages including R, Python, Matlab, VBA, and SQL.
Preferred:
Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program.
Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
