Job Summary:
Key contributor to the IT Department for the identification, prototyping, and possible production implementation of critical business systems and services. Works with the IT Management to evaluate the best new solutions for existing problems. Prototype software or hardware systems to prove concepts.

Responsibilities:
Research new and innovative ways to solve existing technology problems for Chesterton Business functions.
Create prototype software and systems to prove concepts.
Work with the IT Management to perform business analysis on new concepts and prototypes to show financial readiness of proposed ideas.
Assist IT Management in working with IT Development, BA groups, Network and Systems as well as Customer support to filter out good ideas for investigation.
Analyze external data for relevance in solving outstanding internal Information Technology System, Structure or Process issues within the Infrastructure Domains.
Assist in implementing multiple Projects that may have several participants within IT or the business.
Assist IT Management in documentation and communications to IT Technical resources as well as Business members.
Prepare and maintain documentation as directed for project planning.
Assist in documentation of all IT policies and procedures, including those for telecommunications, ERP, and business recovery where needed.
Support IT Management in the negotiation and administration of vendor, outsource, and consultant contracts with service agreements.
Complexity of Duties:
Concept and business analysis including technical proof of concepts.
Ability to work with technical groups to vet concept viability.
Ability to work with technical groups and provide timely, high quality technical contributions.
Coordinates new processes to better serve Chesterton business changes (Work with QC/CM function).
Ability to learn and utilize emerging tools and to keep pace with changes in the industry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Responsible to deliver component parts for pilot projects on a global level.

Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems in an innovative way.
Comprehension of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Microsoft Development (.Net) Environment experience preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
B.S. in computer science or related field (preferred).
5+ years experience or equivalent in a technical problem solving role in private industry or the military.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to work in a global environment with deference to local cultures and norms.
Must be willing to travel both nationally and internationally.
Ability to acquire information from a wide variety of sources including technical journals, books, manuals, web sites, hands-on computer work, seminars, conferences and workshops with the ability to effectively communicate interpretation of that information.
