The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Clinical Testing Technical Supervisor.

The Clinical Testing Technical Supervisor will be a core member of our new CLIA laboratory. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CLIA laboratory, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of analytical results. This role involves supervising a team of scientists and consultants, managing laboratory resources, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support clinical trials and testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in next generation sequencing (NGS), strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of laboratory best practices. The successful candidate will be able to take ownership of the quality management system, validation activities, test launch, and ongoing clinical testing.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Laboratory Operations Management:

- Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the CLIA lab, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.

- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical data.

- Ensure the laboratory is enrolled in an approved Proficiency Testing program.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and laboratory best practices.

Technical Supervision:

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff, including training on DNA sequencing assays, data analysis, and instrument operation.

- Develop and implement new methodologies and protocols to improve laboratory capabilities and efficiency.

- Review and interpret complex data generated from NGS experiments, ensuring that results meet quality standards.

Project Management and Collaboration:

- Work closely with the R&D team to transfer and validate assays to enable clinical testing.

- Ensure timely delivery of test results.

- Utilize effective communication with cross-functional teams.

- Oversee the planning and budgeting process for the CLIA laboratory, including resource allocation and procurement of reagents and equipment.

Team Leadership and Development:

- Oversee testing personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

- Onboard and train new team members to maintain a high level of expertise within the lab.

Reporting and Documentation:

- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation of experimental results for internal and external stakeholders.

- Ensure that all laboratory records, including instrument logs, calibration records, and SOPs, are maintained accurately and regularly.

- Assist in the preparation of publications, grant proposals, and regulatory submissions as needed.

Qualifications

- Hold a PhD degree in degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology with 4+ years post-PhD experience in NGS spanning DNA extraction through sample analysis and data interpretation.

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high complexity clinical testing laboratory.

- Expertise with basic molecular biology techniques as well as nucleic acid extraction and quality control techniques.

- Proficiency with NGS assays, with experience in ctDNA and other cancer-focused assays preferred.

- Understand the points of failure of various assays and sample types and proven track record for troubleshooting.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.

- Are highly motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
