As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trades Apprentice, Maintenance Repairer 1 or Maintenance Repairer 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for the Maintenance Repairer 2 is $6,136. 00. Trades Apprentice: $16. 06 hourly

Maintenance Repairer 1: $17. 18 hourly

Maintenance Repairer 2: $19. 67 hourly

Examples of Work:

90% Performs general repairs to all movable structures throughout District 02/Bridge City. This includes any and all mechanical repairs within the Bridge Operator house. This includes all bridge components, both moveable as well as fixed.

Makes general repairs, including tune-ups, oil and filter changes, preventative maintenance, replacement, and adjustment of worn or damaged parts, etc. to a variety of equipment as necessary to ensure proper maintenance off all equipment. Starts, operates, and performs safety and maintenance checks on a wide variety of equipment, facility standby generators, vehicles, and crew boats.

Performs preventative maintenance for all movable bridges within the District 02/Bridge City area, including, but not limited to: greasing, replacing worn or damaged parts, preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes on standby generators, and inspection of all mechanical components.

Performs structural repairs to fixed steel or concrete structures, performs traffic control duties, and operates workboat as needed.

Required to be on call for emergency repair, bridge openings, or other support activities.

5% Operates manually operated drawbridges within District 02/Bridge City

5% May be assigned other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency disaster support activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No experience or training is required.

NOTE:

Trades: Cabinetmaker, Carpenter, Cement Finisher, Electrician, Instrument Technician, Insulator, Locksmith, Machinist, Mechanic, Painter, Pile driver, Plasterer, Plumber, Refrigeration and HVAC Mechanics, Rigger, Roofer, Sign Painter, Operating Engineers, Sheet Metalworker, Pipefitter/Steamfitter, Upholsterer, General Mechanical Maintenance jobs and Welder.

To assist a journeyman level tradesman and to learn the trade by on-the-job training or formal instruction as prescribed by the employing agency.

Close from a journeyman level tradesman or assigned instructor.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from other entry or basic maintenance jobs by the performance of work directly subordinate to skilled tradesmen with the goal of preparing the incumbent for journeyman level status.

Differs from the journeyman level because it does not independently perform journeyman work in any trade.
