PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Asst. Bridge Supervisor is responsible for completing scheduled, periodic, and emergency railroad bridge Inspections and providing feedback based on observed field conditions. They provide training, qualification, and oversight for field maintenance employees; and Facilitates action plans based on Detailed Inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Complete Bridge Inspections in accordance with FRA Bridge Safety standards and CPKC Bridge Safety Management Plan Policy

* Audits bridge maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CPKC Structures Red Book

* Make recommendations to territory Manager Bridge Maintenance in regards the inspection and maintenance of bridges

* Complete inspections of moveable bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables

* Directing assignment, use, and operation of Bridge Inspection Vehicle

* Establishes/maintains relationships with their Engineering counterparts on their geographic territory

* Required to request and obtain all necessary track authorities to conduct on-track bridge inspections

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

* Qualification as a bridge inspector or ability to become qualified as a Bridge Inspector in accordance with CPKC Bridge Management Program

* Ability to inspect bridges at heights and wear fall protection

* Computer skills and experience with spreadsheets and word processing required

* Minimum of three (3) years of experience in railroad bridge inspection, maintenance or construction (preferred)

* Current GCOR qualified (preferred)

The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:

* Criminal history check

* Reference check

* Driver's License verification and/or last 3 years of driving history if a requirement of the position

* Background checks that may included 7 years of employment history and Social Security number verification

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
