In order to continually promote and create innovative products that support our vision we are currently seeking an Assistant Shipping Department Manager for the Owensboro KY facility.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Provide assistance to Distribution Superintendent and Shipping Managers in all shipping processes and procedures.
Analyze area of responsibility and make recommendations. (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Performance, Technology, etc)
Assist in directing, motivating and coordinating the activities of all assigned employees.
Assist in oversite of shipping activities to identify any process or procedure issues.
Maintain distribution clerical activities witnin company's management software.
Assist in training new personnel on existing shipping protocol, forklift and GMP safety.
Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Assist Shipping Manager in observing daily shift operations and report any new developments or concerns.
Comply with Swedish Match policies and procedures.
Assist in oversite of finished goods case quality to ensure exceptional finished products are shipped to customers.
Regularly communicate with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needs of equipment and infrastructure.
Coordinate department activities with Shipping Manager to ensure department objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
Study and learn SOP's required for Departmental Operation.
Assist in SOP development/modification as needed.
Promote PMI/Swedish Match policies and procedures.
Maintain good attendance and develop good employee relations.
Learn and put into practice a complete and accurate knowledge of contractual obligations with the Union and conduct manufacturing operations with proper regard for Union relations and their impacts on business.
Assist in Step #1 in the grievance process for the department.
Coordinate with other departments as needed.
Manage the department independently as needed to cover vacancies.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Some college preferred

Experience:

Shipping and Receiving

Inventory Management processes preferred

Skills:

Learn to effectively coordinate several different operations concurrently; cooperate and coordinate with persons at all levels of management, learn to and practice effective supervision of a large number of hourly employees. Computer experience required, Microsoft Office experience preferred.

Specialized Knowledge:

Learn completely and understand the current labor contract as it specifically applies to employees under his/her jurisdiction.

Other:

Must learn to supervise and take direct action as required to achieve Company and Departmental targets. Must be able to plan actions and establish priorities for activities and project with a time frame from current to three months into the future.
