About the job:
• Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
• Identifying treatment options
• Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
• Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
• Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
• Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow
• Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
Qualifications:
\r
• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology\r
• State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist\r
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) (preferred)\r
• CPR certified
General Purpose:
A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals across the lifespan. SLPs work with a diverse range of patients, including children with speech delays, individuals recovering from strokes, and those with developmental or neurological conditions affecting communication. They design individualized therapy plans, provide patient and family education, and collaborate with other healthcare providers (such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and doctors) to enhance the patient's overall quality of life. SLPs often work in settings like hospitals, schools, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, helping patients regain or improve their communication abilities and swallowing functions.
