Located in Canton, Ohio, our behavioral health hospital specializes in treating symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, acute psychosis and other mental health crises and co-occurring detox needs.
Utilizing a blend of group therapy and clinical treatment, our center provides a safe, therapeutic space.
Our team our highly trained doctors and clinicians work closely to develop and oversee individualized care plans, with the goal of build the self-reliance and confidence needed for individuals to integrate safely back into the community.

Our team members work with our patients to help in the recovery and treatment process to restore to a better quality life through their individual plans, group therapy and overall stay at our facility.
The Role Itself
Sunrise
is currently seeking an experienced Counselor (LSW or LPC licensure or greater) to work in a therapeutic inpatient hospital setting providing group counseling.
Previous experience working with psychiatric patients is required.
The Counselor is responsible for providing psychotherapy and counseling therapies including group, individual and family therapy for patients suffering from psychiatric conditions.
Ensures accurate and timely patient documentation.
Complete psychosocial assessment if client is from the community or prior PAS is over 30 days.
Complete SLUMS exam and geriatric depression scale.
Provides counseling therapies for clients suffering from psychiatric conditions.
Complete group notes for each client and session.
Review treatment plans monthly and quarterly.
Assist clients and families with questions and concerns.
Assist physician and clients with scheduling office visits.
Job Duties:
Works well with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members.
Demonstrates active communication with team members.
Completes all assessments within 24 hours and contribute to assessment workload balance between therapists.
Applies appropriate theory and standards for decision and actions regarding therapeutic practices.
Assesses patient needs utilizing cultural, religious, and physical disabilities, in the determination of capabilities in groups and with specific activities.
Documents the patient's response to interventions pertinent to patient treatment on daily/weekly progress status, as appropriate.
Formulates the initial and subsequent treatment programs in accordance with the attending physician's/licensed practitioner's treatment orders.
Displays active involvement in treatment planning process.
Develops a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
Provides therapy treatment procedures according to the treatments plan, communicate, and work with the patient to achieve the greatest benefit and resolution.
Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
Maintains constant communication with the physician/licensed practitioner when patient is not responding the treatments.
Provides family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
Actively communicates with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
Demonstrates proactive communication with those involved with the patient's treatment.
Effectively communicates to UR on treatment and LOS issues.
Completes appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
Demonstrates appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
Acts as member of team with crisis situation occurs, assisting others to ensure patient safety.
Completes accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills.
Assists care coordination department as requested.
Completes all documentation thoroughly, timely (daily by the end of shift), and in accordance with hospital standards.
Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality.
Completes releases appropriately.
Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides by those standards.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Master's Degree in Counseling
Must hold unencumbered clinical license in the State of Ohio of at minimum a LSW or LPC.
Work Experience:
One (1) year of experience in inpatient mental health is preferred.
