IT Internship Summer 2025 LOCATION:
Carmel IN or Chicago IL or Remote Central or Eastern Time CNOs IT Intern program is designed to provide college students practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company.
As an IT Intern you will work in one of three key areas of IT:
Development:
You will work as part of an Agile team to deliver value to the organization.
Areas of interest include Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Perl and Data Delivery.
Information Security (aka cybersecurity):
Evaluate existing processes regarding corporate adherence to security protocols, and adoption of CNO security rules and standards.
Review documentation and on-boarding protocols for the Security team.
CNO offers training and experience using various tools/applications including Tableau, Splunk, Automation Anywhere, PEGA, Visio, and ArchiMate.
As an IT Intern, your responsibilities will include:
Engage with Business/IT stakeholders Update, modify, develop and work to automate reports Perform code review and adhere to code quality standards.
Produce and participate in the design, analysis and presentation of work outputs Collaborate with business, solution architecture, testing and development team Responsible for creating product backlog items, work items, and managing work execution.
Expected to attend and participate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews/product demos, and sprint retrospectives.
This is a paid internship, at competitive rates of $23-$25/ hour depending on location.

The CNO 2025 internship program will run May 12 through August 1, 2025.
During this period, we offer programming that compliments the learning provided by the department through work and other activities such as Networking Leader Talks Career Counseling Development Opportunities Insurance Product and Industry Presentation Series An in-person event at one of our corporate offices during the last week of July Final Presentations Volunteering Event Qualified candidates for an IT Intern position will have:
Progress towards a bachelors degree in, computer science, informatics, software development, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity or any information systems related discipline Currently enrolled student with status as a junior or senior, and anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027.
Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 Availability to work mid-May through early August 2025 Proficient understanding and functional knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, and Perl.
Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate Good interpersonal & consultative skills Strong written and verbal communication To be eligible for consideration, candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

For students residing within 60 miles of CNOs Carmel, IN or Chicago corporate office, interns will have access to come into the office.
If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged.
For interns not residing within 60 miles of a CNO corporate office, CNO also offers internships as fully remote / work-from-home from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.
