Position Summary

The Executive Director of Indianapolis Indians Charities (IIC) provides strategic leadership for the organization's philanthropic efforts, community engagement, and fundraising initiatives. This role is responsible for advancing the mission of IIC by developing and executing strategies that drive impact through community-focused events, outreach programs, and donor development. The Executive Director also oversees all aspects of fundraising, including events, individual giving, sponsorships, and grant writing, to ensure financial sustainability. Serving as the public face of IIC, the Executive Director represents the Indianapolis Indians at community events and on local nonprofit boards, fostering relationships that enhance the organization's reputation and influence.

Major Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a strategic plan for IIC, aligning philanthropic efforts with the Indianapolis Indians' mission and community priorities.
Represent the Indianapolis Indians at community-focused events and appearances, building relationships with key stakeholders and fostering goodwill.
Serve on a minimum of two local nonprofit boards to strengthen community ties and identify collaborative opportunities.
Fundraising and Development:
Lead fundraising efforts, including individual giving campaigns, donor cultivation, corporate sponsorships, and grant applications.
Plan and oversee fundraising events that engage the community and generate resources to support IIC initiatives.
Build and maintain a robust donor stewardship program, ensuring recognition and ongoing engagement with contributors.
Event Planning and Community Engagement:
Oversee the planning and execution of community-focused events that align with IIC's mission and promote the organization's impact.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop programs that address community needs and expand outreach.
Partnerships and Collaboration:
Cultivate partnerships with local nonprofits, community organizations, and corporate sponsors to support IIC's initiatives and increase impact.
Work closely with the Indianapolis Indians' leadership and marketing teams to align charitable efforts with broader organizational objectives.
Operations and Administration:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of IIC, including budgeting, compliance, and reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.
Cordinate with board vice president to prepare agendas, reports and materials for board meetings; support recruiting and training new board members and officers
Provide leadership to staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Advocacy and Communication:
Serve as the spokesperson for IIC, articulating its mission, programs, and impact to various audiences.
Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates to stakeholders, donors, and the Indianapolis Indians' leadership team.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community engagement, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven success in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and community-focused events.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and donors.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit operations, including compliance, budgeting, and grant management.
Proficiency in fundraising and donor management tools (e.g., CRM platforms).
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Passion for community engagement and a commitment to advancing IIC's mission of making a meaningful impact in the community.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus structure (when eligible).

About the Indianapolis Indians
The Indianapolis Indians are the professional Triple-A baseball club affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In continuous operation since 1902, the organization believes in creating affordable and memorable experiences for fans so they can grow closer together with family, friends, and the community through the game of baseball. The Indians play their home games at Victory Field, a 13,750-seat ballpark located in downtown Indianapolis and White River State Park. The venue opened in 1996 and has received numerous national accolades as one of the best minor league ballparks in the United States. The team has led Minor League Baseball in combined total attendance over the past 14 seasons. In 2018, the organization was recognized as Ballpark Digest Team of the Year.
