ABOUT THE ROLE:Under the direction of the Controller/Director of Finance and CFO and in accordance with state agency policies and procedures, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, and personnel services to meet organizational and legal requirements.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

On-site position, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary range $60,000 - $65,000/year (exempt). Salary based on skills and experience.
Up to 8% annual bonus potential.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:

Maintenance of Helping Hand (HH) financial records by assisting in developing implementing and monitoring financial functions.
Identify process improvement opportunities, collaborating to design and implement solutions.
Reconcile petty cash and replenish as needed.
Maintain monthly payments to CILA clients including updating the ACH template in banking system and monitor changes per bank and client.
Manage and reconcile cash and cash equivalent general ledger accounts in accordance with the monthly bank reconciliations.
Manage and reconcile monthly insurance (health, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, FSA, 403(b)).
Manage fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.
Assist with the month end close by preparing and posting general and accrual journal entries.
Assist with the daily, monthly, and year-end operations of the finance department.
Work closely with HH departments in resolving accounting issues and concerns.
Assist in quarterly projections and annual budget process.
Provide external auditors with assistance, gathering necessary fiscal information.
Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Reconcile with the Development department to ensure revenue and receivables are reconciled to the donor's database,
Develop policies and procedures as needed to improve operational efficiencies.
Other analysis and related duties as assigned.

QualificationsLAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience with financial software, payroll, general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment, particularly a social service agency.

Skill Sets:

Proficient knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accounting software, and payroll software.
Must be able to maintain appropriate confidentiality and integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Must be able to meet deadlines and work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
Must attend all team and agency meetings as scheduled and fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency.
Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist other members of the team.
The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations and have the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.
