The Parks and Recreation department is looking to fill a position for a Camp Host and Camp Host Assistant (couples preferred) at Blacktail Park on the Ririe Reservoir, located 7 miles east of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Blacktail Park has a boat ramp and day use picnic areas. Potable water is not available for visitors.

The Ririe Reservoir is a popular local recreation area located in Bonneville County. Bonneville County Parks and Recreation department promotes outstanding recreational opportunities in Bonneville County such as boating, camping, fishing and snowmobiling.

General PurposeCamp Host will meet and greet visitors and provide general orientation about the park, including boating and parking information. The host monitors visitor activities and may report any noncompliance of park policies, regulations, or laws to local law enforcement. The host will maintain a presence at Blacktail Park for seven days per week. Blacktail Park remains open until 10 p.m., but he/she may be called upon after that time in cases of emergency.

Camp Host Assistant is responsible for maintenance and other duties as required in the park.

Essential FunctionsCamp Host:

Direct oversight of visitor services and basic custodial duties in Blacktail Day Use Park. Clean and restock toilet facilities when empty, clean the shelters/pavilions with a pressure washer, and empty the waste receptacles as necessary to maintain consistent cleanliness of the facilities.

Monitor the sprinkler system, make reservations for the pavilions and communicate reservations to the fee booth personnel. Report any repair/replacement needs to the supervisor upon identification of the need. Assist when necessary in shuttling visitors between parking lots and boat ramps.

Oversee the efforts of the fee booth personnel, and assist with any issues/problems which may arise, parking problems, or cash balancing issues. May work inside the booth when fee booth personnel are absent.

Responsible for overseeing the fees collected at the booth and pavilion rental and balancing the cash daily.

Managing flow of visitors in and out of parking lots, and shuttling visitors between parking lots and boat ramps as needed based on park occupancy. Organizing and picking up supplies at Parks & Rec office (toilet tissue, trash can liners, etc) in order to maintain the park.

Camp Host will be assigned a portable radio unit for inter-park communications and emergencies and will be provided access to basic emergency medical supplies and fire suppression equipment.

Camp Host Assistant, will perform basic routine maintenance.

Perform other job- related duties as assigned or required.

Ability to maintain regular, reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's expectations.

Campground Host Expectations:

Visitors will be greeted with professionalism and courtesy, park resources will be protected as a result of direct visitor use oversight and policy compliance assurance. We expect the Camp Host to provide a positive visitor experience through better communication with the public.

None

2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of basic landscaping and custodial duties; strong interpersonal communications skills; problem solving skills.

Ability to orient the public with park features; identify safety hazards and concerns and use sound judgement to communicate and rectify the operational deficiencies

3. Special Qualifications:

Camp Host must provide a fully self-contained mobile housing unit compatible with the developed site.
Basic First Aid and CPR certification is desired.

Benefits to Camp Host: Bonneville county is responsible for direct host costs, such as propane fuel for heating, space rent, drinking water and internet services. Other costs to maintain a residence in the park are the responsibility of the Camp Host.
