Delivery Driver - Medical Equipment

This employee drives and delivers equipment to perform equipment setups, specifically concentrators, durable medical equipment, etc. in a professional, safe, and timely manner. This equipment is placed in apartments, private homes, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, and other areas where people with respiratory problems are treated. Will be responsible for a high level of customer service as this role is patient facing.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Drives Lincare vehicle
Works independently and must be detail-oriented, with excellent organization
Fully aware of procedures in delivery and setup of respiratory equipment
Completes equipment orientation checklists for new equipment and other necessary paperwork as required for new patient setup
- Instructs patients in the safe and proper use of equipment
Makes oxygen deliveries (cylinders, concentrators, liquid reservoirs) and equipment checks on a daily route as determined by patient base and Lincare routing system
Performs minor equipment repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment both in the home and at the center
- For equipment repairs requiring other than minor repair work equipment is to be packaged for shipment to the manufacturer or their designee
- Responsible for equipment maintenance per schedule recommended by the manufacturer
Drives and maintains company vehicle in clean and orderly manner
- Makes daily inspections and completes proper paperwork
- Maintains established preventative maintenance schedule
Follows FDA guidelines pertaining to cylinder tracking and oxygen analyzer testing
- Cleans rental equipment when returned to the center, in accordance with Lincare policies and procedures
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of warehouse/storage area
Follows Lincare policies as indicated in the operations manual and training manuals, including those found in the Safety & Regulatory manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (includes adherence to the Vehicle Safety Disciplinary Policy), FDA, and Emergency Planning
May serve as a backup to other employees for vacation, illness, and other periods of absenteeism
- Works as on-call service representative evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
- Frequency is determined by the center size and the number of employees available to share in the responsibility
- Must respond in a timely manner and record information on Service Call Report

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

Minimum of one-year experience in home healthcare field as service representative or equivalent position Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be 21 years of age
Must have good verbal and written communication
Must maintain a valid D/L for appropriate class of vehicle driven while employed
Convey a positive and professional image to customers and employees
Read and understand DOT and FDA required paperwork
critically think, make decisions, and be mentally alert
Strong customer service
Basic computer understanding
Home care/health care background is a plus
Lift 50lbs or more by oneself
Lift an excess of 50lbs with mechanical or employee assistance
Maneuver often in restricted spaces
Perform the following physical actions:
- straight pulling
- pulling hand over hand
- reaching above the shoulder
- use of fingers/fine manipulation
- repeated bending
Utilize both hands, legs, and eyes for operating vehicle
Use depth perception

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License Required
Meets all physical requirements related to DOT and FMCSA regulations Required
