Our team of 4,000 employee-owners, equipped with innovative technology and optimized procedures, helps owners optimize safety, productivity, profit margins, and cost-efficiency.Concrete FinisherThe Concrete Finisher is responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels and screeds.Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms, using rake or shovel.
Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
Smooth and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed.
Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using grinder or power chisel and hammer, and parches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, Jointers and straightedge.
May sprinkle colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finishResponsibilities Perform daily equipment maintenance and inspectionsAssist paving crew with site preparation and any other activity as neededParticipate as a vital team member, contributing towards Austin's successAttend daily safety meetingsFollow safety policies and proceduresWork hours adjusted to meet the project's needs; days, nights and weekendsAble to work in adverse weather conditions, hot or cold temperaturesOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
