Description
As a member of the leadership team for the College of Law (COL) , the HR Director will function as a strategic business partner providing direction and input and serving as leader, consultant, resource, and authority on HR policies, practices and resources. This position is accountable to the Dean of the College of Law and the University Chief Human Resources Officer.
Specific Job Duties and Task
Collaborate with leadership on College of Law/university strategic plans and initiatives.
Monitor trends, forecast workforce needs, and develop College of Law HR policies and strategies.
Provide guidance on and implement University strategic HR initiatives and programs.
Partner with College of Law and HR leadership and provide consultation based upon the strategic mission of the College of Law
Develop, lead, and initiate strategies within the College of Law that foster and influence a positive organizational environment.
Collaborate with University Human Resources to establish plans and formulate policies for the University which may have significant influence over University HR policies and practices.
Partner with College of Law leadership to assess workforce development needs and identify HR strategies that support achievement of organizational goals
Promote a high performance, high engagement organizational culture.
Approve management recommendations regarding discipline and investigation outcomes.
Plan, direct and control HR operations of the College of Law
Promote, execute and evaluate programs for the College of Law HR
Develop best practices for HR programs within the College of Law
Establish organization wide policies to meet compliance requirements.
Develop, revise, implement and ensure policies, regulations and compliances are met.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Strategic Leadership, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 5 years of progressive leadership, administrative or managerial experience in human resources in a complex and/or high-profile organization with multiple departments/units.
Knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statues, regulations, policies and directives pertaining to human resources
Demonstrated expert/leader knowledge and ability to:

Plan and develop an organization's HR enterprise in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
Utilize outstanding verbal, written and electronic communication skills as demonstrated by

tailoring messaging to various audiences; including complex and highly sensitive information,
managing conflicts and investigations,
delivery of presentations or staff training, and
authoring/editing formal policy language.

Extensive ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to develop and improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
Extensive knowledge of and ability to align the organization's people and culture with changes in the business strategy, organizational structure, technology, and business processes.
Extensive ability to recruit and develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including knowledge of effective strategies that foster and promote a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
Desirable Qualifications:

HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.) or other professional HR certification.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated experience in organizational workforce planning and change management to align the workforce and culture to achieve organizational goals and measurable outcomes.
Demonstrated hands-on, collegial, and collaborative leadership style that is effective throughout all levels of the organization.
