Overview
The Clinical Leader fulfills all clinical responsibilities in the respective area of practice. The Clinical Leader assists the Clinical Therapies Program Manager(s) in coordinating daily clinical operations, planning, evaluating and controlling program services, ensuring that staff and equipment meet standards established by Nationwide Children's Hospital and external regulatory agencies. Serves as front line manager for the Clinical Therapies staff in Home Care. Monitors and assists in development of programs that are consistent with NCH customer service, vision, principles, service theme and standards. Develops and monitors standards according to Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies to ensure safe delivery of therapy services in the Home Setting. Demonstrates competencies defined (*) in Clinical Leader responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 18 years, and select adult patients.

Responsibilities
The Home Care Clinical Leader supports, communicates, implements and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Children's Hospital.
• Performs all clinical duties and meets all minimum qualifications established for his/her respective area of practice.

Maintains professional standards and serves as a role model by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet departmental goals.
Effectively relates and interacts with patients, families, health care teams and supervised staff and serves as a role model for others.
Serves as an advocate for the Clinical Therapies Division of Home Care.
Serves as a primary resource for implementation and training for orientation of new employees to Home Care, including role functions, policies and procedures, and clinical information systems.
Assists and directs staff in the identification of their own learning needs and assists staff in meeting those needs, and promoting staff development.
Provides direct and indirect supervision of patient care by all Home Care therapists.
Acts as a liaison between the Clinical Therapies and Home Care management teams.
Assists Program Manager with daily operations, ensure appropriate coverage levels, and assures that performance standards are met for supervised staff.
Participates in recruiting of candidates and makes hire recommendations.
Assists in evaluation of Home Care employee performance including soliciting input from peer review, completing competency assessments, and providing performance feedback to managers.
Promotes teamwork by building a team environment and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Performs activities related to departmental operations:

Scheduling
Departmental productivity
Policy and Procedure review and implementation
Assists program manager with monitoring and justification of monthly budget expenditures.

Actively participates in departmental planning, marketing, and implementation of new programs.
Reviews and provides input into departmental job descriptions.
Serves as a chairperson for committees and meetings. Participates in Division and Hospital committees.
Meets regularly with Designated Program Manager(s) and other clinical leaders.
Assists with coordination of departmental performance improvement activities.
Acts as a departmental liaison with internal departments and external agencies.
And other duties as otherwise specified.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Meets the education, experience, and licensure/certification requirements of the appropriate clinical job description.
Three to five years minimum experience in a clinical setting. Experience in a leadership capacity desirable.
Strong interpersonal relationship skills, exceptional customer service, strong verbal and written communication skills, sound negotiation skills and strong decision-making skills required.
Strong organizational skills required.
Home Care experience is preferable.
Completion of Staff Safety training module within first 30 days of employment.
High level of initiative, self-direction and accountability for actions required.
Skill in promoting multidisciplinary collaboration; ability to act as a facilitator and change agent
Supervisory skills required to plan, assign and evaluate the performance of clinical staff. Analytical skills required to oversee and organize the daily activities of treating staff.
Ability to develop and administer departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Budgetary knowledge to assist Program Manager with developing and monitoring annual budget.
CPR certification must be received no later than 60 days post hire or 60 days post expiration.
