JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician who is qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA-88 regulations. You will be vital in the accessioning and gross examination of tissue specimens, working independently under the guidance of our Medical Director of Pathology. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Complete a documented training program in compliance with CLIA standards.
Accession and prepare tissue specimens for gross examination.
Conduct gross dissections of a variety of cases, from complex to routine.
Execute gross dictations according to departmental protocols.
Properly process and hang tissue for laboratory analysis.
Capture images of specimens using various photographic techniques.
Prepare samples for external testing, such as Lymphoma Phenotyping.
Maintain laboratory inventory and cleanliness, preparing routine solutions.
Ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with established protocols.
Meet departmental and quality assurance standards consistently.
Stay updated with procedural manuals and any changes occurring within the department.
Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
Protect the confidentiality and integrity of patient information and sensitive data.
Follow the Corporate Compliance Program and all corporate policies thoroughly.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE:
Qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA-88 regulations with the following educational background:
An associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, OR
Education/training equivalent to the above with at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including 24 hours in medical laboratory technology or science, comprising chemistry and biology coursework.
Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved by recognized accrediting bodies, or equivalent documented training.
REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of one year of related experience in a healthcare environment is required.
