Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within scope of practice and established standards for speech-language pathology. Functions effectively as a member of the team and supports the mission of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Preferred Qualifications Student internship in pediatrics
Education Master's degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology
Certification Summary Paid Clinical Experience (PCE) Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology with temporary licensure
American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association Clinical Fellowship (CF) and registration for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology within 1 year of employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
The Center for Craniofacial Disorders at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is now taking applications for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in Speech Pathology for 2024-2025. The Craniofacial Center is located on the Scottish Rite campus in a beautiful area of Atlanta. Applications will close March 31st, 2024 and decisions will be made by May 1, 2024. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted beginning Jan 2, 2024 and interviews completed on a rolling basis. This is a one-year paid position historically starting around July 1st each year. Start date is flexible depending on graduation date. August 2024 graduates are welcome to apply.

The CFY offers a highly qualified graduate a concentration in evaluation and treatment of resonance speech and swallowing disorders related to cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial disorders.

The ideal/qualified candidate will have:

• Completed a master's or doctorate in communication disorders/speech-language pathology from an accredited program.

• Completed a student internship or research project in craniofacial disorders.

• Active involvement in research projects and/or coordinating research lab for university professors.

• Developed a professional goal of being a clinical researcher in craniofacial disorders.

• Developed a solid academic background in head and neck anatomy and craniofacial anomalies

• Strong letters of recommendations from academic and clinical supervisors.

The Clinical Fellow will serve as a member of a full-time interdisciplinary Craniofacial Team with craniofacial surgeons, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, geneticists, pediatric nurses, nurse practitioner, dental hygienist, nutritionist, newborn feeding specialist.

The Fellow will receive training and experience in

• Instrumental assessment of resonance and voice disorders

• Vocal tract imaging with endoscopy, MRI, and radiographic cephalometrics

• Evidence-based speech therapy treatment strategies

• Interdisciplinary assessment and planning of short-term and long-term treatment goals

• Surgical and prosthetic management of velopharyngeal dysfunction

• Clinical research

Job Responsibilities

Provides effective and appropriate treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days),I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, ALL = all
Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
