Must-Have:
• Prefer NIHSS, ONS certification for those interested in administering chemotherapy.
• Work in a 29-bed oncology unit on the 7th floor and outpatient area; travelers will work on the floor only.
• Expected nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5, occasionally 1:6.
• Use MEDITECH 6.1 for charting.
• Charge Nurse is typically out of the staffing grid unless in unusual circumstances.
• Typically, three Nurse Aides assist per day.
• Shifts are from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM.
• Work every other weekend and rotate holidays with staff.
• Wear Caribbean Blue scrubs.
• Central monitor for telemetry; reading strips is not required.
• Rare floating to medical acute.
• Floor-specific orientation lasts three days.
• Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care.
• Outpatient patients may finish treatment on the floor if running late.
• 12-hour cancellation policy every two weeks.
