Heritage Pointe, Fort Wayne is seeking a medical records clerk to join our valued team. Our medical records clerk is responsible for electronic health record audits. The medical records clerk will adhere to deadlines and complete tasks with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
Essential Job Functions
Audit EHR admission documentation, discharge documentation, assessments, and administration records for completion. Notify staff nurses of corrections and follow up for compliance.
Update EHR with orders and tracking.
Maintains and controls the release of medical records to authorized persons, as directed by Director of Nursing/Administrator.
Performs related tasks, as requested by Director of Nursing/Administrator.
Contact doctors' offices and hospitals for patient records.
Notifies nurses or providers via PointClickCare messaging when medical records are scanned into a resident's clinical chart.
Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work area.
Prepares folders with resident information for outside facility provider appointments, receives paperwork from providers to scan into clinical software.
Job Qualifications
Medical Record experience preferred.
Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Advanced competence with Microsoft Excel and an enterprise level electronic health record application.
Attention to detail with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects.
Ability to work independently.
Valid unexpired driver's license.
Ability to be insurable under company auto insurance plan.

Flexibility for other tasks and duties as assigned.
