POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner to join our Med Peds Division. This position will function within a clinical team of professionals to provide pediatric and adult primary care medical services to a wide variety of patients. This position uses clinical judgment and autonomous decision-making skills in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients, and undertaking a range of clinical actions and professional boundaries following the assessment of patient needs and care requirements. This position is located at the Internal Medicine & Pediatric Clinic in the 17 Davis Medical Building.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs professional pediatric and adult medical care according to established standards, practices, protocols and in accordance with the Florida Practice Act for Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
• Participates in QA projects, educational sessions for clinical staff and attends scheduled organizational sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Participates in the teaching of medical students, residents, NP, and PA students
• Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, service, and related activities. May be responsible for research and/or academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:
• This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
• Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
• Licensed APRN must be active in Florida, NRP Certification,

PREFERRED:
• Experience in Family Medicine. Experience as a nurse practitioner in a Family Medicine or Pediatrics.
